RATING SYSTEMS
Trail and Accessibility Rating Systems
The rating systems on this site are used as a reference for the reviews on this site only. This allows for standardization between reviews. A rating is given to the trail at the discretion of the reviewer, using these rating systems as a guideline only.

Because many aMTB users have a wide range of needs when it comes to facilities and access, the rating system is divided into two parts.

1. Trail Difficulty: the trail difficulty rating system was developed using the IMBA trail difficulty rating system as a baseline. The IMBA system is typically used in North America to rate trail difficulties but does not consider the unique needs of many aMTB riders. For these reviews, this rating system has been adapted to consider the alternative geometry and size of typical 3- and 4-wheel aMTBs. The trail difficulty does not describe whether a trail is accessible or not, only the level of risk and difficulty associated with the trail.
2. Trail/Area Accessibility: the accessibility rating system is used to describe how accessible a trail or riding location is to users of all abilities. This describes the level of difficulty differently abled users may experience trying to access a riding area or specific trail. The accessibility rating does not describe whether a trail will be challenging or risky, only the level of difficulty a user may experience trying to access the trail.
